There's a difference?

Today, I learned the difference between migraine headaches and tension headaches. Turns out I've been getting tension ones and have been calling them migraines for lack of understanding the difference. I'm still not sure what's causing them, but I wish they'd stop. Greatly decreases productivity.

Another Revelation

I should be asleep right now. But I'm not. I'm awake, listening to Christmas music, trying to fully comprehend the revelation I had tonight. Don't worry - nothing bad. Just - kind of amazing for me.

It's taken me almost 30 years of life, and at least 3 years of therapy to come to this conclusion: There IS a difference - between being alone and being single. And with this revelation comes the realization that I've never been alone in my life.

Ever.

And I never will be.

As long as I have family that love me, friends who can at least stand to be around me for brief spans of time, and a cat who depends on me for sustenance and a clean litter box, I will never be alone. This is good. I guess the big news is: now that I know that I will never be alone, I've come to realize that I wouldn't mind being single the rest of my life. I have finally, somehow, gotten past the NEED to succumb to societal pressure that says you are a complete nobody if you are not in a relationship. Yes, this may be easier to say now that I am IN a relationship. Maybe it's the fact that now that I do have this relationship, I don't have this irrational fear of not having what I used to perceive as something that "everyone else had," even if it ultimately doesn't work out. I would truly love it if this were THE relationship and he is the one. But somehow, if it doesn't work out, I feel like I would be okay, and my life would go on, without the usual Danni-esque "go completely psycho for a couple of weeks, then be bitter and resentful for the next year or two before finally getting over it" process.

Does this mean I'm growing up?

That would be great, wouldn't it?

Harry Potter Rocks!

Wonderful weekend - saw HP4 twice! They did a really wonderful job adapting that monster of a book into a 2 1/2 hour movie. I highly recommend it.

However, I was not at all impressed with the Superman preview, and even though Peter Jackson is a wonderful director, I just didn't connect with the King Kong preview, either. Apparently M. Night Shyamalan has a new movie coming out which looks as...interesting...as his others; not a huge fan of his, I'm of the opinion most of his movies have the same 'kind' of ending, and the preview for this one didn't explain anything at all, but that's not surprising.

Suffice it to say, the only movies I'm looking forward to seeing in the near future are Pride & Prejudice, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Ice Harvest, and of course, Saw II.

The Weekend

So who's the dork who's going to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire TWICE this weekend? Yeah, me. Yeah, I'm getting sick, but I don't care! There's so many things coming up I can't keep track of them all. HP4, the Xbox 360 release on Tuesday, Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping, house cleaning.....

Note to self

Next time you decide to watch a scary movie by yourself, when it's dark, rainy and creepy outside...

Turn the phone off.

It's ALL Good!

So I randomly decided to stop by the old workplace yesterday on my way home (convenient because it's right between my bank and my gas station). Turns out that while it did take a few months for it to happen, the place is starting to fall apart. Their new Office Manager isn't quite the perfect little Accounting person we all thought she was. She 'forgot' to pay one of the girls yesterday. And it isn't the first time it's happened. And what does the head honcho boss say? "It's not a big deal."

That's not a typo. He said it's not a big deal.

There's a lot more going on than that to prove it's falling apart, but I won't go into details; suffice it to say, once again I am justified and reassured that going to work for Sprint Nextel, even as a contractor, was the BEST decision I have ever made in my life.

And to make the day even better, my Colorado love and I are one step closer to setting a plan to meet in the near future! I can't help but think what a great Christmas present that would be...

Another informal poll...

Okay, now that I have my entire music collection (with the exception of my classical music so far) on my computer, I'm creating some playlists; one of them for the upcoming vacation in March. In case any of you haven't been keeping up, it's to the Caribbean. Now, of course I have all my Bob Marley, my Caribbean Sounds (steel drum stuff), etc. on there.

The question: Would we consider artists like Santana, Gypsy Kings, Buena Vista Social Club, Gloria Estefan, etc. appropriate to put on such a playlist? I'm hesitant as they lean more toward the "latin" feel rather than the "island" feel.

What do you think?

And yes, it appears I have more free time on my hands than is good for me...

What a Long Day...

Possibly one of the most tedious things I've ever done; transfer my entire music collection onto my computer. Started at 9:30am this morning - here it is almost midnight and I'm still not done. 9.5 GB and counting...

It's Gotta Make You Wonder

So I emailed Cox on Monday about the fact that I didn't have access to my voicemail at home, and the stupid light has been blinking at me for days - I think the dude who installed it was supposed to leave me a manual - but he didn't.

So I finally get an email back from Cox today saying they're sorry but they are experiencing "an extremely high volume" of correspondence. But at least they gave me instructions to set up my voicemail.

But all my channels below 50 are still fuzzy... I've come to the conclusion that no matter what vendor you use, you're gonna get screwed one way or another.

'Skins ROCK!

So my very first Redskins game ever was pretty awesome.

These guys next to us got into a screaming match with some Eagles fans that lasted literally 10 minutes; at least 2 drunk guys fell down a couple rows of seats; this other guy got thrown out twice, because he came back after he got thrown out the first time; and of course, the Redskins won, so that in and of itself was excellent.

VACATION!!!

I have never been more excited by a vacation in my life! I think I'm a bad influence on Froggy, as on Friday afternoon, we decided in about 30 seconds to book a vacation next March (talk about your impulse buys)

A cruise.

To the Eastern Caribbean.

For 7 days.

Oh, yeah.

Let me fill you in so you can drool. We will actually be gone 8 days, as we are spending a day in Cape Canaveral to have a day to spend at the Kennedy Space Center (a MUST for me, former space cadet).

Then it's off to board our beautiful cruise ship - the Mariner of the Seas - one of Royal Caribbean's newest ships (and YES, dork that I am, I WILL be playing "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop throughout the cruise). We decided to spare no expense, as we are getting a room with a balcony this time (and a mini-bar Froggy pointed out)! This ship is friggin huge. Rock climbing wall, ice skating rink, 3 story dining room, miniature golf course, a Ben & Jerry's, 7-story atrium, a 5-story theater...it goes on and on.

First stop is Royal Caribbean's private resort in CocoCay, Bahamas where we will be partaking of the world's largest inflatable water slide, which happens to be 40 feet high. Then it's probably some low-key wandering about the beach, unless I can convince Froggy to go parasailing.

Then a full day at sea to explore the rest of the ship - surely to spend some time in the Dragon's Lair, one of the ship's 2 story nightclubs.

Next stop is Charlotte Amelie, St. Thomas where we will be touring Blackbeard's Castle amongst other pirate-y places before spending who knows how long shopping. Then it's off to SkyRide to Paradise Point, soaring 700 feet above the Caribbean. Followed by a trip to Coral World Marine Park to spend a couple hours - including an underwater trip around the coral reefs.

Next stop is Philipsburg, St. Maarten, where we will spending 6 1/2 hours playing with dolphins, in the ONLY place in the world that has a Dolphin Viewing window in a wine cellar. Oh yeah, and we get to spend some of that time on Meads Bay "voted one of the top 5 beaches in the world."

Then it's two full days at sea before returning to Port Canaveral.

Okay, I'M drooling. How am I going to last three and a half months?!?!? The anticipation may just kill me!

And it keeps playing over, and over, and over...

For some reason, I'm totally addicted to the song "My Father's Gun" by Elton John, which happens to be on the Elizabethtown soundtrack. My interpretation of the lyrics is that it's about the son of a Confederate soldier whose father has died and now he will take up the cause to go fight for the Confederacy. So I guess my addiction for the song is not for the lyrics but the melody, although it certainly is a poignant song when you really listen to all the words.

Just thought I'd share.

As Promised

Finally - back online and able to post pictures!

Obviously as I was a bridesmaid, I couldn't take any pictures until after the ceremony, so these are all of the reception.

First, we have from left to right: my niece Rachel, my new step-niece Lacey, and my other niece Hannah.

And here's the wedding cake - notice the country figures on the top - awwwww....

One of the best pictures of my mom and dad...

Slightly out of sequence, as my brother had already changed out of his tux. And no, he didn't actually fling cake at Kathy, but I thought it was funny.

And they will live happily ever after.

I Never Realized...

how much effort it takes to change your email. Sure, there's the mass email you send out to everyone on your friends and family list; that's the easy part. Then there's all of the links I've created from various sites and notifications to my email which now all have to be changed... Then there's Verizon, who makes it incredibly difficult to cancel your account. I know I shouldn't be surprised by that, but when you dislike a vendor (whether justifiably or not) THAT much, it's more than a little irritating...

Quote of the Week

"Stick around. Make 'em wonder why you're still smiling."
